This safari is ideal for those with a reasonable budget but no desire to spend a long time travelling between destinations. The Selous Game Reserve is the largest conservation area on the planet (with the exceptions of the polar regions) and can be reached in just one hours flying from Dar Es Salaam.

Day 1: Catch the 9.00am Flight to the Selous. You will be met at Mtemere airstrip and transferred by boat to Impala Tented Camp. This will give you your first taste of the superb river boat safaris available on the Rufiji River. You can get very close to a myriad of brightly coloured birds and get very close to crocodiles and hippo. Arrive at Impala in time to settle in before enjoying a great lunch by the river. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the superb Impala Camp

Day 2: Full day exploring the Selous. Activities as you prefer choosing from a walking safari with an armed ranger, game drives or a boat safari. Based at Impala Tented Camp.

Day 3: Another full day exploring the Selous. Activities as you prefer. Look for Wild Dogs or visit Selous' grave. See the petrified trees of Lake Tagalala or swim in the hot springs. Based at Impala Tented Camp.

Day 4: Final morning boat safari returning you to Mtemere Airstrip. Catch the 11.30 flight back to Dar or on to Ruaha or Zanzibar as you prefer.
