Scuba Diving

Tanzania offers some of the best scuba diving in the world, with four major dive locations along its coastline and islands - Msali island (Pemba), Mnemba Atoll (Zanzibar), Chole Bay (Mafia island), and Mnazi Bay (Mtwara) along with countless other good dive locations.

The experienced diver will find all of the above locations spectacular. Zanzibar is popular, with many dive companies offering tours to Mnemba Island, and other dive sites around the Zanzibar coast. Mafia Island is the next most popular diving location with several lodges around Chole Bay, and a selection of dive outfits. Much quieter are Pemba Island and Mnazi Bay - Mtwara/Mikandani where few tourists go, despite both places being probably the best diving there is to offer in Tanzania.

For the beginner scuba diver, all dive outfits offer Open Water and other courses (PADI), however, the best and most economical place to learn to dive in Tanzania is from a dive center just north of Dar es Salaam - Sea Breeze Marine, where for half the cost of a course on the islands, you can gain a qualification, and then take your experience to the islands and dive there with your saved money, and enjoy the dives on the world class reefs, without worrying about your diving technique or buoyancy. Much better value for money. See Diving from Dar es Salaam or contact us for more information on diving in Tanzania.

  • All the Parks visited are really wonderful, especially Ruaha and the "king" Katavi that worth absolutely the long trip (at least in our point of view). Yahaya and Salim are like two friends.
