Abseiling

Abseiling

Abseiling is said to be one of the most amazing experience around, providing ideal views of the surrounding area while enjoying a controlled decent down a cliff side usually too steep to walk naturally.

Although Abseiling is an enjoyable experience in itself, the equipment is probably the most important. The equipment needed for abseiling include, ropes, to control your descent, a Descender, used to regulate the speed at which your descend takes place, a Climbing Harness, used to strap yourself in to the equipment, a Prusik, used as a backup for the entire system, a Helmet, to protect your head from falling rocks, Gloves, to protect your hands from the friction heating of the rope, Boots, to allow you a good grip on the cliff side an Kneepads, which protect you knees from any impact. All of these are a necessity when Abseiling.

Due to the fact that Tanzania has many rock formations, Abseiling can be a popular activity for those with a more adventurous side. Because of the danger of the sport, it is highly recommended that the participants be in a relatively fit state, as it does put a lot of strain on the body.

Although it is advisable to bring equipment which you are familiar with, certain places do provide you with equipment. If you are interested in the sport, please make sure about the equipment before booking your safari.
